Dr. Dadakpoye Johnson, PhD, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

With more than 25 years of nursing experience, Dr. Dadakpoye Johnson is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a PhD in Nursing. Her experience as a clinician, educator, researcher, and mentor has shaped a simple philosophy of care: see the person beyond the diagnosis.

At Casting Crown Psychiatry Services, PLLC, Dr. Johnson provides compassionate, evidence-based mental health care with a focus on ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, and substance use disorders.

Her approach to care is also influenced by findings from her doctoral research, which highlighted five important elements of the patient experience: seeing the person beyond the diagnosis, building trust through communication, providing empathy and emotional presence, advocating for patients, and recognizing how the healthcare environment influences care.

For Dr. Johnson, these principles go beyond research. They guide how she practices every day. She believes patients should feel heard, respected, validated, and actively involved in their treatment.

Treatment is individualized and may include psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychotherapy, ADHD assessment and treatment, and treatment for substance use disorders when clinically appropriate. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Johnson is passionate about nursing education, leadership, mentorship, and preparing future Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
